Volunteer

How can you volunteer in the community and with ROSC?

If you're looking to contribute your time and talents, ROSC sponsors some great organizations in the KMC area. ROSC coordinates with the following three volunteer opportunities on an annual basis. To sign-up for any of these opportunities, please use the links below.

ROSC-Sponsored Volunteer Opportunities

Club 7- Dinner

Club 7 is sponsored by the chapel system with the goal to help airmen develop lifestyles that are physically and spiritually healthy. The club provides a place where young airmen can “hang out” in a healthy environment and provides free meals every Friday to encourage participation in the club. ROSC helps create that inviting environment by providing a home cooked meal and a few friendly faces on a monthly basis (usually the last Friday of the month).

USO Cookie and Fruit Club at Ramstein PAX Terminal

Love to bake, but don’t want to eat all those wonderful cookies?  Then donating cookies to the USO is a great opportunity for you!  The USO wants to ease the time for people waiting for a flight by offering a cup of coffee and a piece of fruit or a fresh baked cookie. Sometimes it’s just a small thing like this that makes your day! Cookie donations are brought to the USO on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. If you are interested in lending a helping hand, use the Sign-up Genius link above to select a date.

Fisher House

Fisher House 1 and Fisher House 2 on Landstuhl provide a place to stay for family members of patients being treated at LRMC.  Currently, ROSC does two big food & toiletries drives a year (April and November).  These events coincide with the ROSC social for that month and information on current needs for the Fisher Houses will be provided prior to the event.

ROSC also provides The Fisher Houses with breakfast burritos and fresh fruit the 3rd Thursday of each month.  Each House feeds about 10 people, So we try to deliver 20 pre-made, individually-wrapped and frozen breakfast burritos per house along with some fresh fruit.  The items need to be dropped off by 9 AM or they can be delivered the day prior, Wednesday, between 0830 - 1700.

VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH NOMINATIONS

Every month ROSC recognizes one special volunteer for their hard work and dedication to ROSC and our community.  If you know of a ROSC member that stands up in your mind, please nominate them for our Volunteer of the Month award.  We would love to recognize and encourage our members that go the extra mile in helping others. All nominations are due NLT 5th of each month.  Each nomination will be carefully looked at, and the winner will be announced at that month’s social.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

The following are additional volunteer opportunities in the KMC area.  ROSC supports these organizations and causes but only coordinates with them directly as needed.

LRMC Storknesters

LRMC has been Storknesting for a long time.  Storknesting is military sponsored women receiving special medical support during pregnancy and delivery that is unavailable at their permanent location.  LRMC provides quality medical care to these women while they are here. What is missing, however, is community support and a sponsor. That’s where Storknester Sponsors come in. They have nothing to do with the medical side but are only focused on quality of life while the ladies are here.

Volunteers sponsor the ladies coming in to storknest as we would anyone new coming to our area and act as a link to the local community.  The ladies come in from Europe and Africa (mostly Turkey).  Their sponsor should meet them at the terminal, or their billeting if they fly into Frankfurt, call/email to check in with them. Plan to take them to the commissary/BX once a week if they would like. More if the arrangement works for both the sponsor and the storknester. Ask them over for an occasional meal and ensure they have a place to be on any holidays they are here.

This is a much-needed service in our community. Please consider joining their sponsorship team.

All storknest sponsors must go through training. If you would like to sponsor a storknester or find out more about the program please call AFRC at 06371-47-5900 to reserve a seat in the next training.
